Get Your Brakes in Order for a Rough Indianapolis Winter

600 × 399

Indianapolis has already had some harsh winter weather. This means that the next few months could be particularly bad. And to make sure you’ll get through it in one piece, you have to be able to rely on your Volvo XC40. While all parts are important, when the roads are slippery, you will want to know that your brakes, in particular, are in excellent condition. If you have noticed any of these warning signs, it’s time to get your brakes inspected:

Delayed Response

There is no worse feeling then when you press on the brakes and nothing seems to happen. If you really have to mash the pedal down in order to get your car to stop, this could be related to a fluid leak or air in the brake line.

Shaking

When you approach a stop sign and apply the brakes, does your Volvo XC40 shake? The issue is most likely due to warped rotors, which can happen over time with a lot of stop-and-go driving.

Squeaking

Squeaking sounds are never good with anything automotive, and perhaps the brakes especially. Fortunately, this may not be very serious; it could just be a metal shim intended to let drivers know that something is wrong. Replacing the brake pads often fixes the squeaking.

Grinding

Like squeaking, hearing a grinding noise is problematic, and this could also be related to the pads. When they have completely worn down, this means that the caliper and disc are rubbing against one another, and this metal on metal can lead to expensive repairs or replacements if it’s not taken care of quickly.

No matter what may be happening with Volvo XC40’s brakes, the service center at our Volvo dealership will figure out what’s wrong and give you expert repairs. Get in touch to schedule an appointment.
