Two Volvo SUVs Earn Enviable Safety Ratings from the IIHS

One of the most rewarding things about being an Indianapolis, IN Volvo dealer is helping people find vehicles that will keep them and their passengers safe. For many years, the Volvo brand has been synonymous with safety, something we’re quite proud of.

Like we’re proud of the Volvo brand’s reputation for producing safe automobiles, we’re thrilled to tell you that two Volvo SUVs earned high marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Every year, the IIHS evaluates vehicles in various automotive classes for safety. Cars are put through a series of crashworthiness tests and their front crash avoidance systems and headlights are tested. Based on how they do in those tests, individual vehicles are given safety ratings.

The top safety rating the IIHS hands out is Top Safety Pick+. The second best rating an automobile can get from the IIHS is Top Safety Pick. When a car earns one of those coveted ratings, the vehicle is considered one of the safest automobiles in its respective segment.

We’re happy to tell you that the 2019 Volvo XC40 earned the rank of Top Safety Pick+ in the small SUV category. We’re just as excited to inform you that the 2019 Volvo XC60 earned the TSP safety rating from the IIHS in the midsize luxury SUV class. It’s worth mentioning that each Volvo SUV earned its prestigious safety rating when it was equipped with certain headlights.

If you want to see what it feels like to be in the driver’s seat of a luxury SUV that’s recognized as one of the safest vehicles of its kind, visit Tom Wood Volvo to test drive the 2019 Volvo XC40 or the new Volvo XC60. We look forward to having you as a guest at our Volvo dealership soon.
